We are hiring for the following positions:

Island Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Mathematics Specialist to support the teaching of Mathematics in Classes 7 and 8.
Working alongside the class teachers, the Mathematics Specialist will teach small classes of approximately 10–15 students. The teacher will be provided with the curriculum topics and expected learning outcomes, and will prepare appropriate lesson materials, exercises and activities for each class.
We are looking for a teacher who has strong subject knowledge and can make Mathematics clear, lively and meaningful. Lessons should combine explicit teaching and purposeful practice with practical and experiential approaches that help students understand mathematical concepts rather than simply memorise procedures.
Teaching arrangement
- Approximately 10 lessons per week: five lessons for each class
- Each lesson is approximately 45–50 minutes
- The timetable will preferably be spread across 3 or 4 days per week
- Possible teaching times fall between 10:50 am and 3:40 pm
- Some flexibility in lesson grouping and scheduling may be possible
- Classes consist of approximately 10–15 students
- Position begins in August 2026
Key responsibilities
- Teach Mathematics lessons to Classes 7 and 8 (12 to 14 year olds, equivalent to S1 and 2 or Y8 and 9)
- Work collaboratively with the class teachers and school leadership
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, practice questions and assessments based on assigned curriculum topics
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly and systematically
- Provide appropriate support and challenge for students with different levels of confidence and attainment
- Monitor student understanding and communicate progress or areas of concern to the class teachers
- Help students develop the knowledge and study habits needed for their transition into other international schools beyond Class 8
We are looking for someone who
- Is fluent in spoken and written English
- Has strong mathematical knowledge and teaching ability
- Is familiar with IGCSE Mathematics or another recognised international curriculum
- Is passionate about teaching Mathematics in a lively, practical, and experiential way
- Is organised and able to prepare suitable learning materials
- Is open-minded, reflective and willing to work collaboratively
- Is open to learning about and working within the principles of Waldorf education
Qualified school teachers or experienced tutors are all welcome to apply. Previous Waldorf experience is not required, but applicants should be interested in understanding our educational approach and adapting their teaching to the needs of our students.
