We are excited to invite a trained Waldorf kindergarten teaching assistant to join us at our Lamma Island premise as our enrolment grows.

Our outdoor learning setting in the heart of cosmopolitan Hong Kong offers a truly unique experience where children engage with the rhythms of nature in a way that is rare in an urban environment. Surrounded by natural beauty, our students develop a deep connection to the earth, fostering curiosity, resilience, and a sense of wonder. This immersive environment supports healthy physical development, sensory integration, and emotional well-being—key foundations for lifelong learning. In alignment with Waldorf early childhood principles, our outdoor classroom nurtures imagination, independence, and a strong sense of community, making it an exceptionally enriching space for both children and educators.

We are looking for someone with a love for nature-based education and early childhood wonder in an outdoor setting. This person will work closely with and is guided by the lead teacher of the class. The lead teacher supervises the class and the assistant acts as a support to the lead teacher. The assistant teacher is also responsible for deepening their understanding of Anthroposophy, child development, and Waldorf early childhood pedagogy to support their teaching. This is a five day, full time position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Transport duties: Assist with the safe transport of children to and from our premise on Lamma Island.
  • Support learning activities: Assist the lead teacher in implementing Waldorf educational principles, fostering a creative and engaging learning environment.
  • Hands-on support: Engage in hands-on work in craft, cooking, wood crafts, gardening, and more.
  • Child supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of children during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and staff to create a harmonious and supportive classroom atmosphere.

Basic qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience working with young children.
  • Native fluency in Cantonese, able to communicate in English.
  • A passion for Waldorf education and a strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, adaptable attitude and a deep appreciation for the outdoors and natural learning environments.
  • Comfort with physically demanding work is essential. This role requires spending extended periods outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold). Candidates must be physically capable of actively engaging with children throughout the day in an outdoor setting.

Bonus qualifications:

  • Having received at least one year of structured training in Waldorf education and anthroposophy.
  • Ability to support cooking activities.
  • Forest school experience.
