To grow a child with inner strength, it is equally important to nourish his willing, feeling, and thinking.
To strengthen the will, start with the body.
Today we brought our students up to a playground nearby for free play. To get there, we walked up over 100 steps of stairs. They loved climbing all over a set of balance beams and running around on the grass. The most challenging “structure” was a large piece of rock that became a slide for them. Their courage, balance, and stamina were all tested to their limits! We watched as even the usually most quiet and shy children tried and tried again, eventually telling me, ”Come see me! I can do this!“
Being able to witness this inner strength, bursting through free movement and interaction with others, was such a blessing!
